this might sound a daft question but is it possible to set up a machine so the gas comes out before the wire feed starts and becomes live?
im finding when i first use my machine i have bad welds like theres no gas which quickly sorts itself out when the gas travels down to the torch and then is ok the rest of the time im using it.
untill i turn it off and then i get the problem again next time i use it.
i think the gas in the torch and lead leaks away up to the valve that must be inside the machine.
so far the solution ive found is to pull the trigger in air with the wire feed rate turned down til gas is coming out, trim the excess wire and start welding.
its a bit annoying when my old sealy mig welder didnt have this problem because the valve for the gas was in the trigger. this meant if pulled half way the gas would start coming out and then fully pulling the trigger started the wire feed so i never had this issue before.
