Well after much waiting etc and then waiting for the aftermath of Christmas to pass, I finally got round to using the Portamig in anger today with some one on one tuition from a friend of mine in his car repair shop today.
The machine started laying down weld beads really easily from the off, and I was managing to lay nice beads after about a minute or two on 1mm sheet.
Then got practice butt welding 1mm sheet and then welding box tubing together and then finally as a challenge, using mig wire to fill the end of a section of box tubing using overlapping weld beads which was a bloody difficult task !
But my mate commented on how nice a machine it was and that it was a really nice torch etc...
So if you are considering a good kit welder then you can't really go wrong with the Portamig welders, more expensive but worth it !!
