Is there anything fundamentally wrong with plugging a hole with weld? One of my TVR chassis tubes was very thin on top with a small hole, although by the time I had finished it had got much bigger!
I had my Clarke 160EN set to 1 Max (second to lowest setting) with 0.8mm wire and just let it keep blowing metal away until it got back to metal that was thick enough to start welding.
This is what I ended up with, I did apply a bit more later but you get the idea
I found that doing this learnt me more about the weld pool and power settings than anything else I've done so far.
The weld is about the size of a 2 pence.
I wonder where all my gas went?
Chris
