hi guys
just bought a plasma king 25 of flea bay, turns out the touch start head is ******. (binzel psb31).
so i want to replace with a torch that also has a pilot arc.
as i am struggling to get these any more I am looking at the trafimet s54 (well a clone) this means i will have to modify my cutter main box to make it air start, this is not a problem for me but i have questions on that as well!
what i want to know is can the trafimet torch start a pilot arc without having to touch the job. ie is there both + and - connections inside the torch to create a path for the pilot arc?
because i am modding my touch start clarke i want to know if on an air start system (non hf) when you press the trigger does the power to transformer come on 1st then a slight delay after the air???
am assuming this so the current can arc when the air pressure moves the 2 metal parts appart inside the gun!!
i will document everything i do on my clarke king cutter as making it air start looks easy!!! and if i can do it maybe a few more people might find it useful.
