i ran out of Phos Kleen B and decided to order regular phosphoric acid (85%) instead.
I noticed it didn't have the strong "eggy" scent as the Phos Kleen did and that it ate through the scotchbrites I applied it with, also unlike the Phos Kleen.
Once dried the steel seemed to have far more of a white powdery finish and a sort of marbled look to it, and far more dark areas too.
Instructions for the Phos Kleen B state it provides a stable surface for painting afterwards, and will keep rust at bay for several months if not painted immediately. I'm not sure I'd trust the regular phosphoric acid to do that?
Does anyone know what difference(s) are between the two? The label on Phos Kleen says its 100% orthphosphoric acid.
