Currently in the process of preparing the underside of the car for painting. Underseal removed, and repeated process of mechanical abrasion and citric acid gel to deal with the corroded areas. The steel has cleaned up nicely, but due to the weather conditions I'd prefer to paint when the temperatures rise and slightly less humidity.
Recently purchased phosphoric acid (85%) and diluted to a 50/50 mix of water/acid, plan is to apply it via scotchbrite. I'm hoping this will suffice to phosphate the steel until I'm ready to apply the paint?
The paint to be applied will Jotun 87 Aluminium, can I apply this directly to phosphated steel? Or do I need neutralise those areas? I have heard of trouble occurring from painting directly on to phosphated areas.
Thanks
