So I've been thinking about purchasing a passivater (maybe it's spelled passivator) but of course the cost of such a machine is putting me off. Some of the work I do is a bit too fine to be cleaned off with pickling paste these days (milky stains)
Does anyone remember when these machines were pretty much just stick inverters with a wand wired in?
I've had some success Jerry rigging the old Miller 330 with some Kevlar cloth, some of the passivating fluid and a bit of good old fashioned MacGyvering.
My question is, does anyone know what warrants companies charging upwards of £1800 for a machine I think I could put together for maybe a couple of hundred?
Surely it's just a case of delivering a consistent 5 amps through the electrolyte.
