So I’ve had my Parweld mig for about 8 or 9 months now, but until recently never used the higher setting because I was running it off a 13amp plug. Since getting a 32amp supply I thought I’d give it a whirl on the highest settings, voltage 8 and wire speed 10. I was ready to start my test weld, pulled the trigger and no wire, released, pulled again nothing, again and again nothing. Then eventually I got some sporadic feeding and a few splattered welds. Opening the side of the welder, what I found was when I pulled the trigger, the wire feed was barely turning if at all, I released the tensioner and tried it and 3 or 4 pulls of the trigger would eventually get the feed going at full speed and then it ran fine until I tried welding. Turning the machine off and on again would bring back the same symptoms 3 or 4 pulls and again it would start working properly.
I’ve done some digging on here and it doesn’t take long to find at least two other owners of the xte series that have the same problem only theirs appeared to be a constant problem not intermittent like mine. I believe those two were fixed with a change or repair to the main control board. Is there a chance that the torch could be causing this issue, or is it likely to be deeper inside the machine? Any advice gratefully received.
Hopefully you can see in these videos what’s going on, bit fuzzy, it you can see and hear the feed strain before kicking in.
