I use my torch in 4T so no holding the button, also I am able to tap the button and that drops to a lower current and a tap again puts it back to full set current so I use that feature if the Alu is getting a bit hot. Just tap and it drops down, a few dabs of the filler later it is cool enough to tap again to increase the current.
I don't use the Up/Dn current buttons whilst welding very much as it is a bit awkward but they are great for adjusting the current remote from the machine as I am often up to 6 or 8m away from it.
When I had the TecArc squarewave I had the pot on the torch and used it as I could use 4T and still adjust via the torch pot but with the Parweld you can not have it in 4T when you have a pot switch attached.
I am never sitting at a bench welding so I suppose really that is the main reason I have never felt the need of a pedal.
