Be careful - according to one source meth-chloride in constant contact with water can produce dilute hydrochloric acid. I've certainly notice a difference in colour on aluminium I've stripped where part of it was in contact with the water layer.
I've had some in a blue barrel for about a year and I've used polypropylene water tanks too without a problem. It comes supplied in HDPE containers so that must be OK.
