Hi,
Would any kind soul please be able to advise me where I am going wrong with my painting that is resulting in an orange peel finish? I am using a sponge roller with Rust-Oleum CombiColour paint (white, RAL 9010) on an already painted surface that is applied to aluminium sheet.
Before painting, I cleaned the surface using soapy water with a grey scotchbrite type of pad (grade 1500). I rinsed it clean with cold water, dried it with towelling roll then let it dry off for longer in the sunshine.
I did not thin the pain, I just poured some into the roller tray and applied it with the roller. I noticed the orange peel effect as I was painting but hoped that it would flatten out as it dried. Its not a disaster as the painting done so far on the pre-painted aluminium sheet is on an area that is not particucilarly visible, its more for weatherproofing. However, I have some more painting to do and would like to avoid the orange peel effect on the next lot.
I have attached a picture of the orange peel effect, any advice on how to prevent it occurring on the next job would be most appreciated. My first thoughts are to thin the paint, however, before doing that I thought I would ask for opinions.
Thx
