Reading a thread recently about Wolf drills, much said about the high build quality. I was recently given an ancient Kango hammer of similar vintage & quality, late 50's early 60's. Looked to be in good order & in its case with chisels etc.
I had toyed with the idea of replacing the round pin plug & trying it but hadnt got round to it.
My son had a look at it yesterday, first job was to open the side panel up to check the wiring.
I am quite glad i didnt try it. On the side is an instruction, Oil regularly, well much oil had escaped, this had rotted the insulation till it resembled old cheese. The machine was lethal & could have killed somebody.
Here is a photo that speaks for itself. The moral is if you are still using something old like this, check the wiring. Needless to say it has been retired.
