clift_d Member Messages 556 Location Hackney innit (UK) Dec 16, 2016 #4 You'd still need to build some sort of firebox in the bucket to restrict the open front area of the fireplace - iirc the rule of thumb is that it should be no more 8x the cross sectional area of the flue otherwise the fire won't draw properly.
