Hi all.
Quick intro.
Am into Vanagons, and by all accounts know enough about mechanical stuff "to get in trouble". Have done lots of soldering and some brazing in the musical instrument repair business, (and making trombone bells. Really) and *years* ago, tried my hand at Ox/Acetylene. I have also had limited experience on a lathe.
I did some reading and have decided on MIG as the welder of choice to make an engine support (and w.h.y) for my Westfalia engine swap project.
Will be purchasing a Hobart 140:

Any users like/dislike it?
And metal aside, is there another material I can use to make my welding workbench?
i.e. concrete? (like those fancy kitchen countertops)
or a bunch of the specialized bricks (can take heat) set in a wood frame?
Sounds crazy, but at price of metal, am curious about options.
Any input welcome.
Cheers,
Neil.
