Hi, I need some help choosing a replacement welder.
I have a 20 year old SIP Topweld 140 MMA, ( so old it is a 240 volt job) it still works OK but I want to change it for something that is light and easy to carry around. I think that means an inverter welder. What I want is around 140 / 150 amps for fabricating bits and bobs and general DIY. I am a member of a model engineering club and we run a miniature railway so it will need to be OK on the end of long mains cables. Any thin steel I usually braze or hard solder, so I'm looking at 1/8 upwards. I've not even seen an inverter let alone know anything about them. From what I have read on this forum and found on the internet I have a short list of sorts. I have been looking at Butters Weldy 1600, Fusion 160 MA and a IFL MMA 160, with I think is also by Fusion. What do the experts out there think?
By the way, does anyone know of a good welding outlet in south west Oxfordshire?
Regards to All, Chris.
