Hey All,
I've just bought a cheap 100 watt Arc Welder. Very new to this so I hope you might be able to help. As soon as I try and strike the arc, the welding rod sticks to the metal? ... as I try and pull this away, I have to turn off the machine.
Also.. have bought some insulating welding gloves - am I able to hold onto the rod or metal to steady my hand or will I get a shock? I tried to cut down the rod (these are free rods that came with the welder) so it don't shake as much, but then it stuck again... and all the outer material of the rod glowed red and flaked off.
I only bought the welder for a couple of jobs around the house but its way harder than I first thought.
Any help would be great. All the best - Jay.
