I think @oilyneil works on the electricity network so maybe he can give me some insight.
After pricing up an off grid solution to supply electricity to the barn (£££££!) I've realised it's going to make more economic sense to get a new mains supply from the grid.
I'm waiting for a quote back from Western Power but I suspect that the poles that cross my land are HV so it will involve the cost of supplying a transformer.
There is a pole fairly close to the barn and then on one of the boundaries about 90M away there is a pole with a weird box on the top, I guess it's not a transformer but just a joint to convert over head cables to underground cables?
It's hard to get a close picture as it's so overgrown there.
