Hi;
Odd question and i'll try to explain, I am trying to make a jig that will represent a rear subframe for an 'Y' Reg Austin Mini to help line up repair panels before welding.
The repair panels will be replacing areas where the sub frame mounting points are located so I need to make sure they are welded in exactly the correct place to ensure that the sub frame is repositioned correctly.
Four pieces of sheet metal will be welded to a square frame of either box steel of angle iron, each piece of sheet metal will contain the sub frame mounting holes.
I am ok with the holes in the boot floor as I can mark through the existing holes but I have a problem with the holes for the front mounts as the holes are in the heel board and are covered by the sill!!
Once the subframe is removed if I place the sheet metal over the location of the holes in the body where the sub frame was bolted how do I mark the location of the hole underneath as I will not be able to see it and I cannot mark it from the other side??
Are there any secret tricks?
