Hi there, i've been messing around with the new TIG on and off for about a year but i'm finally in a position where i need to start actually working out how to use it.
I'm in a right old mess with it though..... Its a Parweld XTT-202P AC/DC machine.
The pile you see below is welded at 130amps, 3mm steel. I tried initially at 90amps but it wouldn't create a pool. Gas flow 8LPM. The heat generated is melting the tungsten, the collet and the cups.
1.6mm Tungsten, red thoriated, 1.6mm filler rod
Earth connected to negative, torch positive (is this the problem??)
What am i doing wrong? Can anybody help me? I've had some previous success when trying to weld Aluminium but wanted to start properly with steel to get the hang of torch control and wire feed first.
I've burnt out my supply of collets and cups. More should be arriving later this week.
