Maybe you're right, and yes the burner is here.
It'll have a conventional flue, BUT the burner will have it's own vent from outside, so perfectly safe in terms of fumes.
So perhaps I shouldn't give up just yet.
I was thinking of running it on diesel instead of heating oil, handling heating oil is going to be tricky, even though we have the house heating on oil, I don't fancy running another pipe line from the tank, and I wanted a seperate tank anyway, so I may still go down the diesel route.
The other issue is that of the burner flame, I was thinking of sticking a long tube on the end of the burner with several holes drilled in each side to give a more even spread of heat.

there is always a way round it especially if you already have the burner.
as long as the heating unit will use a balanced flue and the flue exit is far enough away from the air intake you wouldnt get any fumes in the garage
