One thing the long saw tipped blade is good for is cutting out central heating pipe access routes in fully cured /dried new coving & ceiling boards . I found plunging the off set saw blade tip up into the coving is the best way . Once you have the two vertical cuts then slip the offset saw knife up the wall & across the ceiling to get a really clean cut out . The resultant clean cut is as good as any I made with a Stanley knife
