After stripping my pillar drill to give it a service I decided today to put it back together and the motor fell off the bench, landing on the shaft and by the looks of it pushing the shaft into the casing, inspection has shown an internal plastic housing has broken.
The motor was a perfect runner and I am fed up is an understatement.
Are they fixable or is it a new motor required, it's a Brook Compton half HP with a shaft that shows 15.9mm using my cheapo digital verniers, I presume that's five eigths in old money.
Here is a photo of the damage, if it's beyond repair and anyone has a motor for sale it looks like that may be the only option.
