Hi all,
I need a vice for my mill. The one I have is very banged up, wobbles under load because the base isnt flat and really is far too tall anyway.
I've had a browse through used abwoods on eBay buy nothing takes my fancy, im loathed to spend a couple hundred on something that's full of apprentice marks, that and they are all too big and too far away.
I don't have £500+ for a Kurt, im also quite suspicious of the super cheap clones of the kurts. I do like the pull down style though.
Arc have 4 inch Kurt clones for under £100, but it just seems too cheap to be any good? Their non pull down vices are scary cheap.

Rdg do vertex, twice the price of a generic clone, they are "imports" too. At least theres a video from this old Tony showing its flaws.

Then theres everything inbetween.
I don't need mega accuracy, and surely with an expensive vice the accuracy benefits repeatability, otherwise the peice can be bumped around to suit.
Thoughts, any avenues I'm missing? Ill keep looking for a used vice in the meantime but I think im going to have to get more chinese...
