I have the opportunity to trade an old Model A body for a Millermatic Passport in a few days.
I need a MIG welder that can weld 1/4" mild in one pass (building a rat rod frame, and NO I will not farm it out, see below)
The manual says it has a range of 30 to 180 amps when operating on 230V but I can't find any info if it will do 180 amps with gas or flux core. I have a good size tank with 75/25 mix that I am using with my little Lincoln 100HD (I like it for light work on sheet metal!)
"And for the nay-sayers I have lots of test material that I am going to practice with and I will be cutting my welds to inspect my penetration and check for little air pockets. When I build my frame I will have lots of gussets and stuff on the frame so as to make darn sure that it will hold up. So please don't start talking about how I shouldn't be doing this on my own. Thanks."
So you guys think this welder is good enough to weld up 2' X 3' X 1/4"???
