Folks,
I'm struggling a bit with finishing my mild steel TIG welds. I'm using a Lorch with a pedal. I have no reason to suspect my settings are wrong since it is only finishing I can't seem to get right. I'm backing off the pedal at the end of the weld for a few seconds and then stopping and holding the torch and rod in position until the post flow stops. I seem to get either a rounded lump or a little tit at the end of the run. Am I backing off too much or holding the crater fill too long. I've looked over the Miller TIG notes again and can't see any specific advice on this.
Any advice or rules of thumb on crater fill would be appreciated?
Graham.
