I have just bought a Mig welder. I need an experienced person to give me training say for a day. I live in Anglesey. I am prepared to pay for his time. Can anyone help please ?
Sorry, cannot help personally because I live nowhere near you, but I can suggest that you go to your local college and see if they do welding night classes. Mine did at their agricultural campus. It was one day a week and they give you proper instruction. I also got a certificate at the end.
Since you ask about a single days training, I doubt you will be intrested in a college course?? I can only tell you my own experience but I have found Mig welding very aproachable. Get some scrap to practice on in varying thicknesses and forms (sheet, angle, tube etc) Equipt yourself with enough gas and wire and abrasives to do lots of practice and READ as much as you can here - its all been asked and photographed before.
I didn't need to show pics of my first welds because they were the same as most peoples first welds and the advice they were given worked for me.
Just keep practising on scraps till your happy (following the advice of the folk here)
It does save time having someone else set the welder up and take you through the basics, but it is possible to learn from the tutorials (anyone coming over here to learn welding gets pointed to the welder and computer and told to get on with it).
