Really important on the MGB is sealing all the cavities to stop noise travelling from the engine bay area or the rear quarters. I used plastic sheet and foam. Also sealing any holes into the engine bay (loose grommets etc) works like magic.
Malcolm, My B has holes with grommets that lead to the engine bay for no apparent reason. Maybe for accessories my car doesn't have? (I can't think what though, being a '66 model. They didn't have accessories!)
Would you say its worth welding these up or just going with plugs/grommets?
