Anyone got any recommendations for metric dial calipers. I've got a pair of £20 metric ones but they're flat every time I go to them (I know I should take the cell out) and I'm thinking of spending out and getting an old school set of dial calipers instead.
why would u need a battery in a dial caliper its mechanical do u mean a digital caliper/ if so get a metric imperial one , as said they have an on off switch on them . the only thing they dont like is been used in freezing weather if u want a decent dial caliper buy a mitutoyo one for about 65 quidAnyone got any recommendations for metric dial calipers. i have a set of both. its bloody anoying when the digits disapear with the coldI meant to type electric not metric.
Our work shop does get very cold at night as it's right next to a river and isn't exactly insulated so it might be the cold killing the cells in my digital calipers. I figured with a set of dial calipers I'd do away with the cell problem and I could entertain myself by making the dial spin round when I'm bored.
While we're on the subject of measuring equipment does anyone know where I can get 15 and 30CM rules that are metic only instead of metric on the left and imperial and the right?

I never liked the idea of electronics in measuring stuff so put off buying digital calipers.
I've still got a vernier caliper found it accurate enough for what I need to measure - once I'd learnt to read the scale!
It's got no batteries and doesn't mind living in a cold garage.
