Looking at purchasing a lovely Meddings A10 radial arm drill, identical to ones refurbished on here. Only issue is there is no drive to the spindle shaft, the motor turns the input pulley shaft into the gearbox but the spindle doesn't turn. The seller reassures me it's an easy fix, but cautious given the age of it purchasing parts for it; both price and availability. I wish I checked the gear selector when I viewed the machine but forgot to.
After doing some research it seems like a common issue is the gears within can become shredded. If so does anyone know the approximate cost of them? Or is there a chance it's something more serious. Just to note there wasn't any noises (especially not horrible ones) when the belt was spinning the input shaft at full speed. Rather not hassle Meddings with calls till I have a rough idea of the possible issue. Meddings have informed me it was made in March 1956 and has a M4 mkI head.
Will update with photos if I do purchase it!
