Same deal with titanium which is also pyrophoric but only easy to start a fire with when it's finely divided. And commercially pure Ti swarf burns much better than bits of manky old mag castings that are alloyed with other stuff.
Brad, not sure if it would be any use to you but I've used 5356 for Lambretta engine casings in the past and it has always turned out OK, you can have as many 2.4mm rods as you want if they're any use, I'm in West Yorkshire if that's anywhere near you
I'd steer clear of the monkey metal with mag personally... some of them state they shouldn't be used on magnesium parts and i've got a vague recollection it cause corrosion issues or something along those linesI'm gonna try building one of the lugs up as shown above today, I may buy some of them SIF 555 or HTS2000 rods instead, depending how it goes.
