G'day.
Do alot of arc, but friend took away borrowed machine.
Done alot of oxy /a but do not have access to anymore.
Finally have to fork out the cash to get my own machine
So going for a clarke, as I have been reading this board for about two months, and refering to it when bidding on ebay. But getting a new one.
The gas / gasless models combined models are cheaper. I want to gas weld. So one question is, why not buy a gas/ gasless model the get the add ones to gas weld? It ends up still cheaper or equal but you have the bonus of gasless welding if you need it. Or is the gas only models built better quality wise?
Another question is BOC gas bottles rented, do they provide a requlator? or do you buy your own (can find this out myself I supose)
Clarke have a blue range and a red range. To me there is little differance in the models 150 amp of each. Both are turbo, accepted one is easier to change the wire. Is it worth the extra 20 quid?
Um, what else, Oh yeh. What lens do you recommened for mild steel? as in shade wise? Most welding will be 8mm round mild steel bar to f20 ~25 mm 3 mm thick flat bar.
