Hi all,
I got my trusty little SP170 out yesterday to weld up a new garden chassis for our daughters petrol brush chipper (so it can be dismounted from it's road trailer and wheeled down side alleys etc).
Everything went well apart from the tip coming out now and again ... often after / during me clearing it from a blob of molten steel on the end of the wire that was stuck against the end of the tip (this could be the cause or an effect?).
The place I bought the welder from in 1998 (WES) is still there so I assume could supply me some new tips but I was wondering what the thoughts are re push-in versus the screw-in tips I've seen on the net (I know mine can't take the screw-ins, as is anyway). Do they still use push in on new machines and if so, why please (I'm thinking there must be a reason outside of cost etc).
Cheers, T i m
