Hi all,
I started a new job a few months ago as mobile welder/ line borer.
The van has a ranger 305 which is a lovely gen set but the wire feed unit is a lf24m and it's a pain in the back side!
the problem is the mig wire is always live, i.e it will arc out if it touches anything the earth is touching.
Not a major problem when using the welding torch but i have to keep removing the earth clamp when setting up my automatic welder and if i forget i get a flash.
From what i understand, this wire feed unit isn't designed to be used with a gen set and this is how it should react but can possibly be converted somehow so its only live when the trigger is pulled?
I have searched the internet but can't find out anything about this or what bits i need to do it?
Has anyone done a conversion or know anything about it or do i just 'accidently' drop it out of the van and get them to buy me a new wire feeder?
Cheers!
