Hi all,
I about 6 years ago I picked a 220 Lincoln Electric 175HD mig welder (220v). I never had a need for it till this week for some automotive sheet metal work. I wired in my 220 power and started setting the machine up. I needed to flip the roller for the correct wire size so powered up the machine and it doesn't spin the wire reel at all. Called up support they said it could be seized motor even though the machine is new. So opened the machine and noticed a bit of corrosion the copper switch tabs. So I cleaned what I saw off using some dexoit cleaner (it for contacts) and then flipped the machine on. Nothing still on setting A but B C D E F all work and the wire speed dial also works as it should.
So I am left wondering is my motor the issue or the switch? Contacts are all clean at this point. The reel motor works but not at low speed A (1-10).
