Like the titles says, I'm thinking of using the Lidl Baufix oaint that's currently in their stores to paint an engine block that's been hot washed, ultrasonically cleaned and then sprayed in oil to prevent flash rusting. It's also been rebored to suit new pistons, but that's bye the bye.
I will obviously need to mask off all the bits of the block I don't want painting and will need to completely remove all traces of oil from the bits I do want to paint. What would be the best degreaser (and how do you then remove the residue left by the degreaser)?
I know that the blurb on the can says that it can go straight on to metal, and by all accounts the paint is good quality stuff, but would this be advisable for best results or should I use a primer first? If so I'm thinking epoxy primer from a spray can.
Lastly, I'm not that proficient at spray painting, so would I get decent results brushing the stuff on with care? I'd be applying at least two coats.
