Hello from Bedfordshire.
My name is Chris, I'm 28 and and I am a carpenter (specialising in kitchen installations)
I'm hoping for some guidance on how I'm getting on and what I can do to improve. I'm sure the answer is to just keep practicing.
My reason for trying to learn is that I've always had a go at making things that don't exists or I do not have. I've always enjoyed programs like scrap heap challenge and robot wars and now I have my own place and the beginnings of a workshop - I can start building my own crazy contraptions. I've also unfortunately been inspired by the YouTuber Colin Furze and have a mobility scooter waiting for an engine to be installed.
So recently I bought a sip hg 1800 and have started 'avin a go. It's a bit basic, no provision for a foot pedal, auto post gas and no ac but I wanted to buy new and that's where my budget stretched to. I've probably done 2x1 hour sessions so far.
I blagged a piece of 5mm mild steel and a bit of box to make a welding table which I've bodged together due to burning my work bench trying to lay beads on the underside of the plate.
Here's the beginning of my workshop, plans are to have a clear out soon and run another work bench down the left side. Unfortunately I have to share it with some appliances and horse tack.
I'll upload some pictures of today's efforts in the next post
Regards, Chris
