Still clearing up from floods earlier in the year. Be started stripping down lathes and milling machine. I've come across a couple of machines that the paint in the gearbox's have bubbles under the paint. It occurs in areas that were above the flood height.
Are these both a cheap paint job that doesn't cope with oil? Are there any easy fixes? I'm trying to avoid tacking out the lathes headstock/bearing as retrueing looks to be a bit of a faff.
Areas that were underwater but not exposed to oil are clear with no blisters or paint flakes coming off.
