It's metallic base coat. Thing is my first spray that I did last weekend came out perfect apart from the orange peel, but I hadn't used any thinner with the lacquer as I didn't have any so that may be what caused it. It was a scrap bonnet just for a test, so thought I'd risk it without thinner.yes ,wet your cloth or kitchen roll etc with panel wipe /degreaser then wipe on, wipe off ,simples. you can warm up the tack rag with a hairdryer blast ,softens it makes it more plyable.take your time dont be in too much of a rush ,that was my biggest downfall back when i was learning, if it does go pear shaped ,stop , let it harden for at least 24hrs then rectify .at worst its a flatten down with wet& dry and hit it again. is t a solid colour or basecoat metallic?
I got some tiny specs in the lacquer, that may have been because of the mist, the garage door was closed and the mist lingered for an hour after I sprayed. I think the specs would rub out anyway. I've bought an extractor now.
The only other weird thing I found was when spraying the base coat it would take quite a bit for the colour to build up, I'd have to go really slow. In the YouTube videos it looks like they just shoot over the panel once and the colour comes out solid. I was spraying navy blue on a silver bonnet. Was using 1.4mm tip instead of the recommended 1.3mm tip, cant remember how much thinner I put in, I think 1:1 which is the max allowed according to the datasheet.
