HI , before I pass the point of no return and grind off the back of my series 3 chassis, I need some clarity on welding on the new rear quarter chassis. This is my first go at welding and obviously I'm a little nervous. I have/will be doing loads of practice before hand but I'm a little unlcear on overlap welding, which will be how the quarter chassis is attached. In the tutorial it mentions angling the torch into the overlap. Does this mean you weld in and along the overlap edge thats touching the original metal or do you do the normal stitching movement across the joint? If it's usual stitching method, if the welder is set high enough to weld through the overlap metal + the metal underneath, won't it be too high when you arc across onto the original metal and possibly blow through? Thanks in advance. Oh and I'll have to weld vertically and upside down as well, just for good measure, but I've seen advice on that already.
