well... I'm getting there...
first ever welding attempt...learnt lots..
The thing that I learnt most, is not to go poking about , looking for rust, on my car
A recap...
as I have since found out these are not go faster holes, nor air conditioning
and underneath
you all were right, 1mm rocked for shaping and bending
and so, it begins.. gasless welding...
(I took my fence down to get the car in, as I had nowhere else to weld)
I think I may do a removable fence for when a'tinkerin comes
rather than have a nest of welding wire, and no welds,
I got a multimeter and checked for continuity
cleaning as I went along....worked a treat...good contacts
90 degree fit, with 3d curves etc... interesting challenge ...but no where near as hard as I thought !
a marker pen worked wonders for tracing the curves
just stopped an hour back , as light stopped play..
tomorrow I'll be grinding , touching it up , so it looks seamless...
and then covering with poundland's finest roof and gutter sealant..
welding the underneath , was not as much fun as it sounds
sparks everwhere...and I couldn't get my head and mask underneath
so a few blobs were done with eyes wide closed...
Tomorrow, I'll be grinding back...with grinder, flap discs , and dremel
I'll take some pictures incase the mot guy wants to see it
and then covering with lashings of poundland's sealant
It was good to be a'tinkerin...
My first ever welding attempt... just, to , ...hopefully ,
get the car past the MOT
Many thanks to you all, for all your advice and help
Cheers
Liam
