Avoid using gears if it is stuck, they are easily damaged. Make a drawbar like at the end of this www.youtube.com/watch?v=7dC13inQC9A
@doubleboost uses an adjustable spanner on the jaws rather than the chuck key.Ooohhh... conflicting advice
I see youtubers grabbing the spindle to loosen the chuck - so that's not the way to go?
I've just come in from the garage after an unsuccessful attempt to get the chuck off by whacking it
No spindle locks on that model as ive owned one...chuck removal involved putting in back gear and putting a piece of wooden batton across the face of the chuck held with the jaws and have about 16" sticking out and then a firm hard bang with a large rubber mallet hitting down towards the bed and the chuck will spin off really easy...
yea get a piece of batton and re-read post 31Got it off, finally, with the help of my neighbour. Hour and a half we were at it - the only place we could get leverage was the spindle inside the gearbox.
Variety of different tools and finally it loosened.
The threads seem clean and had a light coating of oil so not sure what caused it to stick so much - any hints on how to prevent it in the future?
Awards dinner Thursday. Nominated for three. Won two. Champagne. Wine. Beer. Whisky. Congratulations. Shaking hands. Meeting people. Home at 05:30. £90 Uber bill on expenses. Left phone in taxi. £90 Uber bill not on expenses to get phone back. Hungover. Bed at 8pm last night. Never drinking again.
Might get to the chuck today...

On the way back from picking up the second award, a chap stopped me and asked whether we could have a chat about a project he was about to kick off. I introduced him to the serious cove, and a tentative deal has been struck over wine!
....That's me on the left, and our product manager, marketing manager and one of the sales chaps.
