These are my thoughts on the Parweld 160 which I purchased just over a week ago. First off it comes in a tough site case complete with 3metre holder and earth leads. The holder is of the crocodile type, which I'm not a fan of. Nonetheless, it holds the rods firmly, but I think it would benefit from the grooves being deeper. It seems fine gripping 2.5 and 3.25s, but I'm not sure it would grip a 4mm securely.
Using 3.25s to put down multi-pass fillets in both flat and overhead positions it seems like it would run all day. The same applies to running multi-pass vertical welds. I haven't noticed any overheating of the cables, holder, or earth after carrying out such work, either. And, as of yet I haven't had any problem with "Arc Blow".
On the down side, I wish the control for setting the amps was a little bit bigger and it would certainly benefit if the movement of it was more stiff. It's moves far too freely for my liking which is a bit of a pain when you want to alter the setting slightly when wearing gloves.
Overall, I am impressed with this machine and its been running fine off a standard 13amp socket, but I've yet to test it's capabilities with the likes of a 4mm.
