He is not called the Dalia Llama; it is just easier to type.
I went to see the Dalai Llama today with my friend and her Mum. I am not normally interested in spiritual leaders, but
He does have some kind of special thing going on. Just seeing him on stage caught me out, Which was nice.
His speeches were peppered with humour and humility, you could see he does not need the flunkies, hangers on and over formality around him. He can make punchy comments and do it delicately.
It was a strange affair as there were a couple of hundred loud demonstrators outside yelling and screaming about him being a liar etc etc.
I looked them up; typical white middle classed fuss makers*. They came in by bus representing 'Shugden' Buddhism which seems to be a more agressive ' self claimed purer' form etc etc. he has rightly in my eye said they should not be involved in the mainstream movement.
Look at how Islam has degenerated into factions that are now trying kill each other off. Very convenient for the colonists of Tibet.....
He dealt with them very elegantly, like a father with a badly performing child. No anger or judgement. He spoke about lots of issues, but I was most impressed by how he did not judge or criticise them.
It is sad to think he is probably the last Dalai Llama. At least that is what he has hinted at.
A long day but worth the effort.
What was funny as we left the stadium 6000+ people, the demonstrators were still at it megaphones and a big bunch of not very impressive drummers.
His musicians, all four of them were on the street opposite them and annihilated them musically. And did it informally and were laughing. The cops were laughing as well.
*middle classed fuss makers? any body remember the Socialist Workers Party?
