I can’t even start a bead, there ain’t a welding chart on my machine so I’m guessing, all I’m getting is sputtering. I’m running 140 amp wolf welder on 3-4mm mild steel with flux core wire
Ok I tried this and immediately the wire all went off (look at pic) and after taking off the the little tip you can see what’ happened due to this happening a fair amount of me doing trial and error. Jeez this is hardOn that thickness you want that machine all the way up - 'power' on 6, wire speed about 3/4 up to start and take it from there.
Welcome aboard, fella Follow the suggestions above and it'll be a case of trial & error thereafter. looks like you cleaned the metal which is good , is your earth clamp connection nice and tight ?
Don't despair , you will get there.
Oh, also - you said you've taken the tip off.
Do you mean tip or shroud?
Both are missing in your photo...
Yeah stick with it ...it's a bit like riding a bike ..suddenly it drops into place ...I see you have a machine that is ..Gas and no Gas ...have you got the torch polarity correct ? + torch for gas.... -torch no gas ...
Yes you need the copper parts with an external thread and a small hole down inside the wire goes through.
Yes, cut the wire back a few mm and fit a tip.Are these the tips I’m not using?
Yes, cut the wire back a few mm and fit a tip.
The tip have a hole for the size of wire your using, screw in a tip then fit the shroud
Are the feed rollers set to feed the 'fatter' wire?
Looks like the tip threads burnt upHere is what Iv done definitely the worst begginer mistake ever
