I can stick weld, not pretty but functional, but I want to learn to mig or tig weld in my home shop. I bought a mig gas shield 15 years ago to try it but I kept having to replace the liners so I gave up and sold the thing.
I retired and just finished building a new shop. I need advise as to what to look for in a welder. I was told the mig welders with the spool on the gun are better and avoid the liner problem.
I want to be capable of up to 20mm metal( usually 3 to 10mm) and up to 10mm aluminum. I do not need a Rolls Royce but I want a good serviceable brand. Other than wasting money price range is not important.
Which brands and features should I look for?
Thank you.
