I feel the need for a hydraulic press, my needs are to press the odd wheel bearing and to bend the odd bit of 15mm thick flat bar up to 100mm wide. As this is not something I have any experience of can anyone point me in the right direction as to what tonnage I require and what to look out for.

Yeah I think so, a 30T would be more than enough as long as the V die is wide enough. 100mm wide die would need just under 14T to bend 100mm wide 15mm flat bar.
Imho, they are very small tons on the ebay ratings and if you buy one expecting to run it up to 30t on a regular basis it wont last very long indeed... I have a 20t floor standing one, and I've managed to bend the pins which hold the lower section in position and crack part of the frame pushing assembled cranks apart, which I repaired by beefing it up in a few places and making new pins out of stronger material, so far repair is holding.
Its still does however twist (rotate!) the frame slightly under the heaviest of loads which is very unnerving as there isnt really a lot to stop this and the cylinder isnt mounted very true to the axis of the frame. Since one of the real dangers with a press is loose tooling/pushers flying out sideways, I have made a chuck system which holds the tooling with a good fit and bolts to nip it in position, which stops the tooling pinging out if something goes wrong and I don't use it with loose tooling.
I personally would buy a old 50t and rework it with a new cylinder which are my replacement plans having experienced the chinese stuff, but I only bought my current one to press bearings in and out etc.
