I have been looking for some scrap aluminium to practice ac tig on. I have the aluminium filler rods there too.
I was scrapping an old water separator and to me it looked like aluminium. It mustn't have been as it wouldn't weld just blew apart in AC and DC modes
Thoughts on this - let's just assume for a second I am a total metallurgy dunce here. How do I identify what is aluminium and how to test weld it? Is there such a thing as pot metal and it isn't weldable?
