HI
I am rebuilding a landrover series 2a gearbox, the original mainshaft(left in pic) was no good because the case hardening on one end had gone, I have a spare gearbox and have taken the mainshaft from this however it has another issue - there is a bronze sleeve that is located on a peg that sits against a thrust washer that is also located by a very small peg - on my replacement mainshaft the bronze bush had broken in two (a common issue) and had spun the thrust washer shearing the thrust washer peg at the same time.
You can just see the peg flush with the shaft on the RH shaft in the image in comparison to the LH shaft with the thrust washer & both pegs still in place.
I have no idea how I am going to remove this, the larger peg simply pulled out with pliers but any suggestions would be welcome. A new shaft is over £300 & I am thinking it might be the right time to get a decent old pillar drill and vice to drill it out. At least i would get a pillar drill at the end of it?
