Aaand, finished! Well, as finished as it's going to get.
I couldn't resist adding a 'hook on/off' tray for holding paper plates [i'm sure my D-i-L won't be using her best crockery ] etc. The final iteration....... - amazing what paint'll hide, innit....

How did you get on baking the paint on?

How did you stop the lid opening all the way back on your one s-b-f
I just did one firing on the one I made. I think it stays a wee bit soft before it's baked, hard as anything once it's fired though.Thanks. I didn't, son can do a couple of 'blank' firings himself before putting food anywhere near it.
Just welded on a piece of small angle at the appropriate height on the back.
