Most companies employ the services of independent HSE companies to draw up their workplace policies, its never a guarantee that the employee`s best interests are at heart. As Mee points out for the most part they are box ticking exercises, real time risk assessment/methods statements ( RAMS ) are seldom part of a factories HSE policy.

The last firm I worked at were big on that, for the most part it were a total waste of staff time & paper basically,......if the H&S people came back another time unexpectedly they would have seen fire exits blocked, trip hazardous etc. All wrong I know and horrible for the staff to work in but all the boss cared about were productivity & profit at the end of the day.
